Branch Manager — Memphis
Branch Manager, Patt Donovan Brings Experience:
As branch manager of the newest Geotechnology office in Memphis, Tennessee, Pat Donovan is responsible for overseeing all operations, business development and management duties for the office. This requires leading a staff of 25 in providing geotechnical, construction materials testing (CMT) and drilling services. He spent 12 years in charge of operations for Hall, Blake and Associates, Inc. prior to the firm joining Geotechnology in September 2010.
Pat began his career as a construction materials testing field representative and started managing the department when he was just a senior in college. He has grown the department from three to 13 people, including hiring a professional engineer and a staff engineer, and sees fantastic potential in further growth for this cohesive team. He enjoys teaching his staff and appreciates how they truly operate as a team, supporting each other in daily practice. He looks forward to seeing how this group applies their talents to expanding their capabilities and become even stronger.
In addition to leading the CMT group in Memphis, Pat enjoys interacting with clients and building lasting relationships with them. He is a valuable resource for his clients, constantly building his own knowledge to avoid “cookie cutter” recommendations, allowing him to make the most effective recommendation on a project when issues arise. His finely tuned communication skills help bridge the gap between owner and engineer and engineer and contractor.
When he’s not working, Pat can be found spending time with his family and golfing. He holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineeringcivil engineering from the University of Memphis and is a professional engineer in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. He’s also a member of ASCE and the Geo-Institute.
