Subsurface explorations were conducted to provide geotechnical recommendations for the design and construction of this new retail development along with Refraction Microtremor which provided seismic design considerations, including IBC 2003 site classification.
The team performed 89 borings, drilling to depths of 15 to 30 feet. Samples were obtained through SPT and Shelby Tube methods and tested.
A ReMi survey was performed within the Target building footprint to obtain the requested Target seismic design criteria. A ReMi (refraction microtremor) survey was performed to determine site specific shear wave velocities in order to evaluate the seismic site class. This information was then used to assess the seismic site class for the entire development.
The Plaza at Adams Farm is being constructed on a predominantly agricultural site. It will include a 126,840 square foot Target with five adjacent structures, a 137,930 square foot Lowe’s with three connected structures and six additional free-standing buildings.
