Branson Airport: Project Deadline Met

Location: Branson, Missouri
Client: Vasey Aviation Group, LLC
Owner: Branson Airport, LLCĀ

Services: Geophysics

Branson Airport Overview:

Using geophysical methods, we identified the location of karstic features within the footprint of a planned runway at The Branson Regional Airport.

Details:
Construction on the runway had already begun when a sinkhole appeared. Our help was requested by Burns & McDonnell, and our geophysicists applied electromagnetic surveying, dipole-dipole resistivity surveying and seismic refraction to identify quickly other problem areas using non-destructive seismic and electrical energy to detect subsurface instability. Our nine-member team analyzed the data collected and correlated it to different subsurface features, including voids. We worked day and night to complete the last-minute assignment with precision and skill, and were able to provide the client with quality site information within the project timeline. The Branson Airport became operational in May 2009.
