University of Memphis – Women’s Softball Facility

Overview:
The $1.7 million Tigers Softball Complex includes a stadium, grass outfield, locker rooms, press box, batting cage, bullpens, and dugouts.

Details:
The facility is located on the University of Memphis’ Park Avenue Campus on the corner of Park Avenue and Getwell road. Construction on a 10,000 square foot additional that will include coaches offices, coaches locker rooms, team meeting room, training room, indoor hitting and pitching area, laundry room and storage will begin in the summer of 2014.

Drilling, sampling, and Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) sampling were performed. Recommendations were provided for the unsuitable fill that was encountered on site, as well as foundation recommendations.

In addition to geotechnical engineering, Geotechnology* performed construction observation and materials testing services. Our field engineers and representatives provided full-time observation and testing of the construction materials. These services included observation and testing of Augered Cast-In-Place piles, soil and asphalt placement, backfill of utility trenches, reinforcing steel placement, and grout and concrete sampling and testing.
