We provided geotechnical design- and construction-related services for Argosy Casino during the initial development and subsequent renovation and expansion projects.
We provided geotechnical services for the original Argosy Casino development. The site lies within the Missouri River floodplain on the bank of the river, and approximately 15 feet of fill was required to raise the site to planned finish grade. Cast-in-place augercast piles and driven piles were used to support the more heavily loaded structures. Ancillary structures were grounded on shallow foundations constructed on the controlled fills placed on the site.
The project included:
- Mooring and docking facilities
- Parking structure
- Terminal building
- Miscellaneous peripheral structures
Argosy Casino then requested our geotechnical design services for a $105 million renovation and expansion of the complex. Using quality-control materials testing during construction allowed for the timely completion of:
- An eight-story hotel
- Parking garage
- Relocation of boat casino into a man-made basin
- Construction of a single-level casino
We again provided design services for a new, 1,500-space parking garage and nine-story resort hotel at the existing complex. As part of this $75 million addition, a portion of the hotel was constructed in the footprint of a demolished parking garage and augered cast-in-place piles were used. Pile load tests confirmed the design.
