BJC Institute of Health at Washington University

Location: BJC Institute of Health at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri
Services: geotechnical
, construction materials testing

We performed pre-construction probing on the BJC Institute of Health, which is the largest building to be constructed on Washington University’s School of Medicine campus.

We were tasked with completing pre-construction probing to determine drilled pier bottoms and observed drilled pier installations for approximately 140 rock-bearing drilled pier foundations. Additionally, team members provided field and fabrication shop observations of structural steel members.

The 700,000-square-foot, 11-story $235 million building, which spans Metrolink light rail tracks, is a joint project between the Washington University School of Medicine and BJC HealthCare. The facility will house academic departments, support operations of Barnes-Jewish hospital and BioMed 21, a multi-disciplinary research initiative.
